About the CEO

Hello everyone, and welcome to my website Slayed by Slay! My name is Kristianna Ratliff and I'm the CEO and owner of my brand. Let me tell you about my brand and how I came up with it.

I started my own business about 2 and a half years ago when I was working a 9-5 job. Every day I would complain about how I didn't want to go to work, how I didn't want to deal with the people at my job, and how they were treating me. My husband starting talking about how I should quit my job and start my own business. Back then I thought he was crazy. I just had my first child, and I'm also taking care of his oldest child who is now 11. Between me and him, I was making the most money so I couldn't afford to quit my job. However, the more he talked about it to me, the more I gave it deep consideration.

I really started thinking about starting my own business, however I didn't know what business I should start.  I remember looking for a hairstylist for me and my step daughter. A lot of these "licensed" cosmetologists would charge an arm and a leg for a simple style, and would not even shampoo and blow dry your hair. I saw one stylist who would charge an extra 10$ on top of the service charge if you're a new client. That was the final straw for me. Why would you charge someone more money if they're a new client? At that point, I decided I was going to go to cosmetology school and become a hairstylist.

I finally decided on my business, and it is now time to plan everything out. I found a school that I wanted to attend. My husband and I talked about the bills, and he was able to pay for all of our bills alone. Now, the last thing to do was quit my job and start to put my plan in motion.

October 1, 2018 was the day I left my 9-5 and became my own boss. It was a scary but good feeling. I wanted to do this not only for my family, but to help other ladies and little girls out there feel beautiful on the outside as they are on the inside. I want and will offer a lot that most stylists aren't offering.

The name Slayed by Slay came from my maiden name, Kristianna Slay. I added "Slayed" to let people know they will be slayed after they get out of my chair.

Thank you for reading about me. I hope you enjoyed a little story time. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns!
